The Mentorship Component aims to provide a safe space for students to grow alongside their peers through a system of families consisting of mentor-mentee pairings. Our goal is to facilitate meaningful connections between mentors, mentees, and alumni participants in order to provide students with academic support, career guidance, and a community that they can rely on.
We hold events throughout the year, including family and component-wide socials, community activism and education events, and career development programs. Our Mentorship Program recruits mentors and mentees during the Fall and Winter quarter, and any undergraduate is allowed to sign up to be a mentor, mentee, or both!
Build meaningful relationships, develop interpersonal skills through a Southeast Asian undergraduate and alumni network, and gain valuable leadership and event programming experience as a Family Head. As a year-long commitment, Family Heads are members of the Mentorship workgroup and will work closely with the Mentorship Coordinator and SEA CLEAR staff to plan both social and informative events for mentors/mentee pairs. These events aim to educate the community about our Southeast Asian heritage and promote bonding between families. Time commitments can range from 2-6 hours per week for workgroup meetings, event planning, and event attendance. Applications for Family Heads open during Fall Quarter and can be found on our social media pages when available.
